The Healing Power of the Pen: Assisting Children with Writing Stories
The course is open to parents, grandparents, child specialists and educators interested in working with children to assist them in writing their stories, from their point of view. Participants will learn the basic structure of story, engage in creative writing exercises, understand first person point of view, and understand how an animal or character can “metaphorically” represent someone else and allow a child to speak through that character. The story could serve as a means of allowing a child to process life events, both positive and negative. (i.e., illness, divorce, new sibling) No writing experience required. This class instructs how to implement tools for writing with children, please do not bring youth to class. To register, CALL 314-984-7777

MINING YOUR SOUL STORY CHICAGO, IL
Sat March 14, 2015 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
EQUILIBRIUM Energy + Education Chicago, IL (312) 786-1882
After a lifelong journey with both physical and emotional pain, Mary Byrne Eigel employed many powerful tools to heal her body, mind and spirit from torment. But it was not until she wrote about that journey in her autobiography Silent Courage that she achieved true release, and could finally claim her wellness and wholeness. In this amazing workshop, Mary will give you the tools to help you achieve your own transformation through writing. Mary says, “Our bodies record the sum of our experiences. Writing about what you remember extracts the event, and allows you to see the situation and your reaction to it as two separate things. Touching base with these moments allows you to reflect from a loving perspective, and not the fear-based perspective that operated at the time the event occurred. Through various writing prompts, ample reflective journaling time, and empowering community sharing in a safe place, you’ll walk away with a greater grasp on mining and writing your own soul story. This workshop is intended for everyone, whether you are new to writing or a long-time journal writer.” $80, members $72.

Augusta Plein Air Art Festival
From April 24-May 4, 2014, artists from all over will stay in Augusta, Missouri, to share their interpretation of the beautiful countryside and historical structures. I will be setting up my watercolor to capture the scenery at various vineyards, wineries, and private estates. Come say “hi!” and see what all the artists produce–all in a day’s time. Daily Schedule of Events.
May 3, 2014 from 1-3 p.m.
In part with the Plein Air Art Festival, I will swap out my paint brushes for my pen on May 3rd to meet & greet, sign books, and sell prints of my cover artwork at Halcyon Spa, which is housed in a rustic 100-year-old mill in the heart of historic downtown Augusta. There will be food trucks parked across the street, along with the surrounding wineries and the Augusta Brewery to make it a full day of creative and culinary delights.
