Artists are fortunate. Even on the grayest of days, we can choose to surround ourselves with color and get lost in it.
Today is very gray. Thought I would share some of my color.
What gives you a lift when you spirit is in need?

About Mary Byrne Eigel
Before writing children’s books, Mary spent many years teaching in classrooms and creating art in her studio. She was born with bi-lateral hip dysplasia, a painful condition that causes normal activities, like walking, to be challenging.
As a child, when Mary had to trek long distances, she often wished she had a wheelchair. For her, a wheelchair offered pain-free opportunities, not limitations.
Mary grew up in Chicago, which is the lakefront inspiration for the town of Sail. She lives in Missouri with her husband and two dogs, Beaux and Trey.
My spirit definitely needs lifted today. And your post really made me think about what I can do to add some color today (It is a black day today).
I am an artist of sorts, but my medium is beads not paint. So today maybe I need to carve out the time to sit at my work bench and play with some stones and crystals…. or I might get out some yarn and start a knitting project.
Thanks for giving me a little nudge to get lost in color today. I really needed to be reminded of that today!
Jolene
Jolene,
Hope you got drenched in color! I love hopping in the shower and pretending that there are different colors coming out of the showerhead. It helps me.
Mary
I just found your blog and really wish I had found it earlier today. This has been a rough day. I have no hobbies other than being on this computer or reading. I do some writing on a Weight Watchers website. I have a blog on there that I write in once in awhile. I have been dealing with chronic pain for 4 years. I am possibly getting a spinal cord stimulator soon and really hoping that will improve my life. Thank you for your color.
My shower is yellow and white and always lifts my spirits in the morning. It has a window with white lace curtains of flowers. It’s like getting up to a sunny day even if there is rain.
Lovely! Sounds like you are surrounded with sunshine everyday. What a great way to start the day.
Karen, I am glad you found my blog also. I am sorry for your pain. You are so wise to find things you enjoy that you can do painfree. My pain drove me to do studio art work. I taught for years but it was so painful standing. It was pleasurable to be able to do studio work. I pray you continue to find things you love to do in your compromised situation. And pray there are better days ahead.
